How to Manage Your Mind for Success and Happiness
Whenever you’re confronted by a challenging situation or problem, it’s never a matter of managing the situation. It’s always a matter of how you manage your mind. Can you manage your mind and the toxic thoughts and emotions keeping you from finding success and happiness?
Thoughts Determine Your Success and Happiness
If you can embrace how to manage your mind for success and happiness, you will come to understand what great minds have always known. It’s not what happens to you that determines your quality of life, but how you respond to what happens. Truly successful, happy people know that their thoughts matter. The thoughts they have about any challenge will determine the outcome.
The fulfillment of your goals and dreams are dependent upon how you react to your life experience. Remember, your entire life is based on the choices you make. Every choice you make (whether consciously or unconsciously) has a consequence. ALWAYS! That’s why it is wise to take time out to think before you choose.
Success and Happiness is About How You Manage Your Mind
The following can help you make the right choices and steer the course of your life.
Manage Your Mind for Success and Happiness
In every situation (especially during tough times), life always asks you one question. “Who do you think you are?” Who you think you are is who and what you will become. Not only will this profound question determine how you treat yourself, but also, how others treat you. This is how you manage your mind.
When I’m experiencing difficult times and a decision needs to be made, I ask myself that question. “Who do you think you are, Steve Rizzo?” It’s not necessarily about being a “mindset expert,” a “funny keynote speaker,” or a “former national comedian to hall of fame speaker” – although I certainly may be considered those things. It’s more about this: in that moment my mind shifts into a higher state of awareness. I recognize that I’m not feeling right, that there is concern or emotional duress in my world, and that I need to take action, rather than focusing on the misfortunate or stressful situation itself. It’s also being aware that I can reflect and choose how to respond. Most people are unaware that their negative thoughts and emotions are steering their lives.
Whatever challenges you are facing, whatever your desires are, be it respect, appreciation, success and happiness, peace of mind or love. It all comes down to how you evaluate yourself in any situation. Who you think you are determines your outcome. When a healthy outcome seems to be an impossibility, remember to shift your perspective to a productive way of thinking. Anything else is just being a danger to yourself.
Your Mindset Creates Your Success
In this higher state of awareness, know that there is something greater in you that can meet any challenge head on. Say it out loud, “I am bigger than any challenge!” Ask yourself, “What are my choices here?” “What will the consequences be if I respond to this situation with anger or fear?” “How can I turn this around to be advantageous for everyone involved?” Will this decision make me happy?” “What will the short- and long-term consequences be with this decision I’m about to make?” “How will it affect my family, friends and business associates?” “What can I learn from this?”
When this simple strategy becomes a habit, you know that nothing can take your power away from you, unless you allow it to happen. The pathway to a successful and happier life is more of an emotional decision than a change in circumstance. In other words, you have to make a conscious decision to change the way that you think and what you are focusing on daily.
When you decide to spend more time and energy viewing life through the eyes of love, faith, gratitude and optimism, and less time trying to figure out why you are so unhappy, you will experience a wonderful transformation taking place within you and around you. You can actually place yourself at the helm and steer the course of your life just by becoming aware of not only the damage you can create, but also the magic you can create in any given moment. It all depends on who you think you are.
