The Beauty of Passion: How It Can Change Your Life

What’s common amongst Richard Branson, Jon Bon Jovi and Oprah Winfrey?

Yes, they are immensely successful people, but that’s because they are fueled by passion. The most triumphant people in life are those who let their passion lead the way. Passion is what helps them to wake up in the morning and give their day everything they’ve got.

You can hop around from job to job hoping something lights a fire in your belly, but if you don’t have a passion for what you do, nothing will work.

No one wants to live a life without their passion. People who are forced to live passionless lives do so because they either let life get in the way of their dreams or because they simply haven’t discovered their passion yet.

The majority of people belong to the latter.

So how do you find your passion? Ask yourself the following questions to push you in the right direction.

1.     What are you good at?

Most passionless souls tend to be low on morale and are inclined to sell themselves short. It helps to give your self-esteem a boost by identifying your strengths. What is it that you do better than others? Where do you excel? Where do you shine?

This quick exercise gets you in a positive mindset.

2.     What did you love doing as a kid? In school?

When we’re kids, we’re more open to trying new things. We don’t think about the consequences, we don’t think about our capabilities; all we care about is how it makes us feel—which is exactly what you need to do when finding your passion.

What are the things you liked doing as a kid? Did you spend class time doodling in your books? Were you more of the creative type or the analytic type? Jump into your childhood to understand more about what really gets you going.

3.     What makes you lose track of time?

Even as adults there are certain activities that make us lose track of time. When we like what we’re doing, we block out distractions.

People who have a passion for fashion will lose themselves in fashion magazines. Those who love cars will attend every car show in the area.

We all have something that gets us ticking; find out what yours is.

Remember that finding your true passion isn’t easy. There are people who know right away what it is that they want to do in life; for others, it takes longer. Don’t pressure yourself. Open up to new hobbies and learning opportunities to narrow down what really drives you. In the meantime, do what you need to stay motivated.
