How to Reinvent Yourself When You’re Feeling Stuck and Unfulfilled

You’ve got a job you’re not happy with. You’re only staying because it pays well. You often feel empty and unfulfilled.

You feel like you’re stuck in a rut.

Working in sales isn’t easy. In fact, it’s immensely stressful and can take a toll on your mental wellbeing. Having to deal all types of people on a regular basis is tough. Sometimes people have a bad day and take it out on you.

Unfortunately, life isn’t like a Hollywood movie. You usually can’t pack your bags on a whim and move to another city.

However, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing you can do. Here’s how to reinvent yourself if you’re feeling stuck:

Keep an “Emotions Journal”

Keep an “Emotions Journal” - How to Reinvent Yourself When You’re Feeling Stuck and Unfulfilled

One of the things you can do is keep a journal and write how you feel on a daily basis. Think about how you feel when dealing with angry clients. Do you feel disrespected? Humiliated?

Writing down your emotions will help you in two ways: you’ll identify how you’re feeling, and it’ll help you communicate with your manager openly.

You can then think about how you want to approach your manager. Is there a certain project you don’t like working on? Maybe they can rotate the project so you can take a break. Maybe they can give the project to someone else.

Ask for Other Responsibilities

You ask for other responsibilities as well. This will allow you to get some fresh air. You’ll be working on something new, and this will help you learn new skills.

This will also help you change your routine. When you’re working on something new, you won’t have to worry about monotony.

Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

This has been said time and time again, but that doesn’t mean it’s not true. Stepping out of your comfort zone can help you see the light at the end of the tunnel.

When you challenge yourself, you identify your strengths and weaknesses. You learn about yourself in the process. You learn about what you’re good at and what you’re unable to do.

It can be as simple as asking for a certain type of project or talking to that new colleague if you’re shy.

Often times we find ourselves feeling stuck because we slip into a routine. Changing our routine and challenging ourselves can help us learn that there’s more out there than we know.
