Kim Mathews - July, 2009
Kim Mathews is a Registered Veterinary Technician currently working for Bayer Animal Health as an Associate Training Specialist. Her background includes extensive work in mixed animal veterinary practices. Kim is a national responder for Code 3 Associates of Longmont, Colorado and is President of the Emergency Equine Response Unit (EERU) and serves on Equine Operations for EERU. Code 3 Associates and EERU are rescue operations teams that provide national assistance for animals in disasters (man-made or natural). EERU’s most recent response for Code 3 Associates was in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina devastated the gulf. Kim worked on the water operations strike team assisting in the animal relief/rescue efforts from the flood waters. She is trained and certified in Large Animal Rescue, EARS (Emergency Animal Rescue Service), Equine Investigations Academy, Level I through L.E.T.I. at the University of Missouri and has also received 5 certificates of achievement from FEMA in Animals In Disaster planning. Kim is a registered veterinary technician in the state of Missouri, as well as Kansas and is a Charter Member of the American Association of Equine Veterinary Technicians. She is currently working on obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Technology through St. Petersburg College. Kim lives in Paola, KS on a small 6 acre farm with her two horses, Ben and Windsor and her two dogs, Beauregard (the VERY spoiled Bloodhound) and Libby (a miniature schnauzer with a human brain)!
